Frontier Application Readiness Kick-Off Workshop
Hilton Hotel – Downtown Knoxville, TN
October 8-10, 2019
8:00 AM ET – 5:00 PM ET (T-Th)

Note: This workshop is by strict invitation only.

The Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) will host a Frontier Application Readiness Kick-Off Workshop on October 8-10, 2019 in downtown Knoxville, TN. During the workshop, staff from OLCF and Cray’s Center of Excellence (CoE) will deliver information about the Frontier system to the Center for Accelerated Application Readiness (CAAR) teams and selected Exascale Compute Project (ECP) teams. The teams will also have a significant amount of hands-on time to start working on their codes with the guidance of OLCF and CoE staff. The days will be structured with presentations in the mornings and hands-on sessions after lunch.

  • The meeting will begin on Tuesday, October 8 at 8:00 AM ET and will end on Thursday, October 10 at 5:00 PM ET. Please make sure your travel plans can accommodate this schedule.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • An agenda will be added to this page in the future (see “Agenda” tab below).

  • Venue and Lodging
The workshop will be held at the Hilton hotel in downtown Knoxville, TN. We have reserved a block of rooms from October 7-11 at a rate of $103 USD/night (plus applicable state and local taxes, currently 17.25%). To reserve your room, please use this link. NOTE: The special room rate will be available until September 16 or until the group block is sold out, whichever comes first.

DO NOT BOOK TRAVEL UNTIL WE CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE!
After registering, you will receive an automatic notification saying “Thank you for registering…”
PLEASE NOTE: This does not confirm that you have been approved to attend the event! We will contact you separately when you are confirmed to make travel plans.

    Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) Restrictions
We anticipate there will be a subset of information that will be disseminated at the workshop that requires attendees to be covered under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). We will not know from the vendors until a few weeks prior to the event exactly how much information will need to be restricted. If you are employed by one the laboratories listed below, you are covered under an existing NDA and no further action is needed on your part. If you are not part of one of these laboratories, we will need to work with you and the vendor(s) to execute an NDA. Therefore, please do not make your travel arrangements until an NDA is in place and we have confirmed your attendance (separately from registration). We will be in touch with you if your registration form indicates that an NDA is required (e.g. you are not employed by one of the laboratories below).

  • Argonne National Laboratory
  • Berkeley National Laboratory
  • Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
  • Los Alamos National Laboratory
  • Oak Ridge National Laboratory
  • Sandia National Laboratories

  • Export Control Restrictions
We anticipate there could be a small subset of information that will be disseminated at the workshop that could have Export Control restrictions, and thus we may have to limit who can hear some of the content at the workshop. We will not know from the vendors until a few weeks prior to the event exactly how much information would be considered Export Controlled and who would be restricted from hearing the information. If you are a US Citizen or Limited Permanent Resident, you should have no restrictions in participating in these sessions. All others may be restricted from hearing this content.

If you have any questions, please contact Tom Papatheodore ([email protected]).

    NOTES about lodging:

  • If possible, you will want to arrive on Monday since we will be starting at 8:00 AM ET Tuesday morning.
  • NOTES about transportation:

  • Knoxville is served by the McGhee Tyson Airport, which is located about 20-25 minutes from downtown Knoxville.
  • The venue (Hilton Knoxville) is located in downtown Knoxville, which has many restaurants/pubs so you might want to just grab an Uber/Lyft from the airport instead of renting a car.
