Titan Workshop
Titan is the next-generation leadership-class computational resource at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF). It represents a significant step towards exascale computing at the OLCF. Titan is a hybrid architecture machine, utilizing traditional CPUs and accelerators.
The workshop is designed to introduce users to working with Titan. The workshop will provide hands-on exercises designed to demonstrate how to utilize available tools and techniques for porting their applications to Titan.
Registration is required for this event. Information about travel and accommodations in the Oak Ridge area are provided below. Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the event.
Additionally, the event will be webcast. Please indicate if you intend to participate in person or via webcast on the registration form.
[tab: Overview]The workshop will present a paradigm for utilizing the CPU/GPU hybrid architecture that Titan will provide. This paradigm consists of exposing more levels of parallelism in application codes, using a compiler directives-based approach to create accelerated code, debug and analyze performance of generated code, and finally, if necessary, use low-level programming constructs to gain more application performance.
The workshop agenda will be organized around this paradigm with targeted hands-on exercises designed to expose users to these concepts. Titan is a staged upgrade of the current OLCF Cray XT5 system known as Jaguar. Titan will be a Cray XK6 machine. For the workshop, users will be able to access the newly upgraded XK6 Jaguar which will be similar to the final Titan system.
