OLCF staff members recently participated in coding events that aimed to introduce middle and high school students to computing and coding concepts—CodeStock Academy and WiC’s “Introduce Your Daughter to Code.”
With 2 years left of Titan operation, as well as the recent deployment of new test beds built by Cray, Inc., OLCF is staying active in the Cray community.
Using the Titan supercomputer, a team of researchers integrated massive amounts of climate data, combining physical and biological processes in the Earth system with feedback from human activity, marking the first successful attempt to bridge Earth systems with energy and economic models and large-scale human impact data.
A team led by University of Iowa’s George Constantinescu is using Titan to create 3-D non-hydrostatic flood models that can be used to improve the predictive capabilities of existing 2-D models.
At the annual meeting of the Education Chapter of SIG HPC, Fernanda Foertter, a User Support Specialist at OLCF, was elected to the position of SIGHPC Education Committee Vice Chair.
