Profiling Tools Workshop
Profiling Tools Workshop
Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Building 5100, RM 128 (JICS Auditorium)
August 7-9, 2019
8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (ET)
The Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) will host a Profiling Tools Workshop on August 7-9, 2019. This event is intended to explore and teach OLCF users various profiling tools, their differences and how to use them on various applications. There will be hands-on after the morning presentations.
Speakers: Mike Brim, Ronnie Chatterjee, Nick Forrington, George Markomanolis
During the Tutorial
Participants will be guided through performance analysis of real applications on Summit, using well-known tools such as TAU, Score-P, Scalasca, HPCTookit, Extrae, NVprof, and Allinea MAP. The topics covered will include presentations of using various profiling tools to apply performance analysis, problems that maybe occur for specific applications and the required workflow.
In-Person Participation
For this workshop, in-person participants will use Summit if they have already access or they will be given access to the Ascent training system, which is a stand-alone system consisting of 16 nodes identical to Summit’s nodes.
(Limited) Remote Participation
If you choose to attend remotely (see “Remote Participation” tab below), you will be able to view all presentations/demonstrations but you will not participate in the hands-on neither you will have access to Ascent.
Requirements for Hands-On Participation
If you plan to participate in the hands-on portions, you will need either to send us your application until 1st July or you will use an application that we will provide. The reason is that we need to verify that your application works with at least one of the profiling tools that are available Summit. Furthermore, it is required that your application is running already on Summit before you send it. We will select 2-4 applications that will be used for the presentations and the rest ones will do performance analysis on their applications during the hands-on session. If an application can not be profiled with any of the profiling tools, because either the programming language/model is not supported or usage of some advanced features, you could attend by using an application that we would like to.
If you would like to attend on-site or remotely, please register using the form below. If you have any questions, please contact George Markomanolis ([email protected]).
