Introduction to NVIDIA Profilers on Summit

Introduction to NVIDIA Profilers on Summit
Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Building 5100, RM 128 (JICS Auditorium)
April 11, 2019
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (ET)

The Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) will host an Introduction to NVIDIA Profilers tutorial on April 11, 2019. This event is intended to teach OLCF users a practical approach to using the NVIDIA profilers on Summit. Example programs will be provided so participants can follow along with the demonstrations.

During the Tutorial
Participants will be guided through example programs to demonstrate the recommended workflow for using the NVIDIA profilers on Summit. The topics covered will include an introduction to the text-based and visual (GUI) profilers, how to handle single- and multi-process profiling, and basic customization/annotation of visual profiling with the NVTX API.

In-Person Participation
For this tutorial, in-person participants will be given access to the Ascent training system, which is a stand-alone system consisting of 16 nodes identical to Summit’s nodes. Participants with current Summit access are welcome to use Summit if they prefer.

(Limited) Remote Participation
If you choose to attend remotely (see “Remote Participation” tab below), you will be able to view all presentations/demonstrations, but you will not be given access to Ascent. If you already have Summit access, you are welcome to follow along during the hands-on portions, but support by the presenters will be limited.

Requirements for Hands-On Participation
If you plan to participant in the hands-on portions, you will need to have the NVIDIA Profilers installed locally on your laptop before the start of the event. To do so, you will need to install version 10+ of the CUDA Toolkit, which you can do regardless of whether you have an NVIDIA GPU (or any GPU).

If you would like to attend on-site or remotely, please register using the form below. If you have any questions, please contact Tom Papatheodore ([email protected]).
