Monthly Topic: Daemon Processes/Lustre Purge Question
*Some workflows may benefit or require a process that continues to run even when the user is not interactively logged into an OLCF system, such a process is often referred to as a daemon. There are two main ways in which user daemons may run at the OLCF: through looped chained jobs and the use of cron. We will give an overview.
*Purger question: The Luster Purger currently removes all files that have not been touched in the prescribed period of time, however it does not recursively remove directories.
Would you prefer the directories to also be removed, so that a cursory inspection of the directories would tell you if your files have been purged. Or, do you need to retain the directory structure?
