Tapia 2020 – Easy-Peasy GPU Programming using OpenMP

This workshop will introduce participants to the OpenMP programming model– one of the most popular and powerful programming models for developing portable HPC applications using hardware accelerators, such as GPUs. This workshop provides an introduction to GPU hardware, accelerator programming models, and the specifics of OpenMP. Attendees will be given access to the OLCF’s Ascent system for a hands-on tutorial. Ascent is an IBM 16-node POWER9 system, with 2 CPUs and 6 GPUs per node. Registration for the hands-on component is required and must be submitted no later than September 10, 2020.
Prerequisites
- Laptop/desktop with ssh client (to log in to remote system)
- Basic familiarity with UNIX/Linux (e.g., to navigate the file system)
- Familiarity with a command line text editor (e.g., vim, emacs, nano)
