New User Training 2024
June 27th, 2024
1:00 PM – 3:30 PM (EST)
Virtual via Zoom
Contact: Suzanne Parete-Koon | [email protected]
OLCF will offer and hands-on New User training targeted mostly for users and students who are early in their journey with using an HPC user facility. However, more advanced new users will get the benefit of the latest updates on our hardware and software and may enjoy some of the creative hands-on exercise that we have planned.
We will familiarize users with our center and timely updates about hardware software and policies, give best practices, and get users started compiling and running a simple code on Frontier. Hands-on exercises are part of each section that we cover, so users will not go more than 20 minutes without doing a hands-on exercise during the training. The training will be given from a git-repo that intersperses hands-on and best practices.
Who may Participate?
This is designed for people who have access to Frontier already, but if you are a summer student in any of the national labs who does not have access to OLCF or someone whose project access is still pending, we have a project set up on Odo, our training cluster, where you may participate. Odo is a 32-node cluster that is similar in architecture to Frontier, but it mounts different filesystems because it sits in our open enclave. You must apply for access to Odo by June 20th.
