2024 OLCF User Meeting

All participants, including virtual participants, must register using the form below.

  • This is a hybrid event. Attendees may join this event online or in person at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

About the Meeting

The Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) will hold its annual OLCF User Meeting on September 10-11, 2024. The purpose of the user meeting is to share selected computational science and engineering achievements emerging from the OLCF’s user programs, to enable interactions among users, to advance the OLCF’s relationships with our user community, and to highlight computational requirements for the future. The 2024 meeting will feature OLCF facility updates, user-experience talks from teams running on Frontier, and deep-dive discussions with OLCF staff.

Contributed User Talks Submission

We encourage participants in this year’s meeting to submit proposals for presentations that highlight innovative research and breakthroughs achieved through the use of OLCF resources. Please submit your presentation proposal by filling out the form below with details about your talk. Please include a presentation title and a brief summary of what attendees can expect to learn during your talk. Presentations should be approximately 15 minutes in length with an additional 5 minutes for questions.

The deadline to submit your presentation proposal is Friday, August 2nd. Selected presenters will be notified by Friday August 9th. For questions contact [email protected]

2024 OLCF User Meeting Talk/Presentations

Poster Submission Information

We encourage all participants to contribute a poster to the 2024 OLCF Users Meeting.  Poster presenters will be given an opportunity to advertise their poster during a “poster slam” event during the User Meeting.

Logistics:
When/Where: The Poster Session will be held the evening of the first day of the event, Tuesday, September 10, in Building 5700.

How do I submit a poster?: In order to plan accordingly and give us the opportunity to promote your poster, please fill out the information requested at the form below no later than Friday, August 30th.

What size poster should I bring?: Posters should be 30H x 40L.

Will ORNL print my poster?: For your convenience, ORNL will print your poster if received by Friday, August 30, 2024. To have your poster printed by ORNL, send a PDF copy to [email protected] by the August 30th deadline.

Data Visualization Showcase

We encourage all attendees (virtual or in-person) to contribute an image or video to the OLCF Data Visualization Showcase — a new element of the 2024 OLCF User Meeting.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Submit a single static image or a video (max 30 sec).
  • Restrictions: Data generated on or visualized on OLCF machines.
  • Aspect Ratio: Up to 16:9, smaller ratios accepted.
  • Resolution: Target and max is 4k UHD.
  • Video Format: MP4 or MOV with max 60 fps.
  • Image Format: PNG preferred, JPEG accepted.

Additional Information:

  • Provide a brief description (max 250 words), tools used, system data generated on, and any comments on novelty or science impact.
  • Optional: Indicate code used with a link if open source.

Submission Process:

  • Email photo/video and any additional information to [email protected] or provide Google Drive/Dropbox link.

During User Meeting:

  • Images will be displayed at the Exploratory Visualization Environment for Research in Science and Technology (EVEREST) facility, which provides analysis and visualization of simulation data generated on the OLCF supercomputers.

Post-Contest:

  • Top submissions may be compiled into desktop backgrounds and showcased in emails to OLCF users.

Visiting ORNL

Upon your arrival at one of the Bethel Valley Road entrance stations, have a compliant form of identification ready for the Protective Force officers so that they can quickly confirm you with the list. If you do not have a compliant form of identification, you will be allowed past the entrance station, but will be required to report to the ORNL Main Visitor Center where your host will need to meet and escort you for the duration of your visit.

Foreign national visitors must always present a Visa and Passport upon arrival at the ORNL Main Visitor Center or the Chestnut Ridge Visitor Center.

Follow the signs directly to the ORNL Main Visitor Center to receive your visitor badge.

  • Rental cars are recommended. If you need to call for a taxi or rideshare service (e.g., Uber and Lyft), we kindly ask you to verify that the driver will be a U.S. citizen or has a valid ORNL badge to prevent delays or entry failures.
