Project Description
The purpose of this research effort is two-fold. First and foremost is to perform full system analysis of the Caitin cooling system, simulating non-equilibrium critical flow. Evaluation of full system performance will require large scale parallel capability, significantly larger than the 300 core available in house. In addition we will be working with commercial code vendor Adapco to improve the parallelization of their code for this complex physics application. Strongly non-equilibrium, multi-phase flow simulation represents a significant challenge to parallel computing. In addition, we will be performing simulation with OpenFOAM as a possible alternative to Adapco’s™ Star CCM+ .
