Aerodynamic drag, drag due to cooling airflow through CRFM (condenser, radiator and fan module) and thermal loads on the underhood
and underbody components are tightly coupled in a vehicle. Improvement in any one discipline invariably leads to degradation of performance in others. This study will pave thethe way for future standard design and development practices through CAE for optimal vehicle performance
using MDO. Tackling this type of a challenge is a necessary precusor to developing a car virtually. We will be collaborating with Dr. Sreekanth Pannala of ORNL for his guidance on this project.
