Richard’s interest in computer systems from an early age developed into a wide array of information technology skills and experience during a 20-year career with the Air Force and his path into cyber security policy began with his appointment as Information Systems Security Officer. After retiring from the military, he utilized his skills on the General Electric Global Laser Enrichment project, was the IT manager for Professional Project Services (Pro2Serve), and most recently worked as Cyber Security/IT Risk Management Analyst with ORNL’s Information Technology Services Division.

Richard’s interests in health-related data drove his work with the ORNL Knowledge Discovery Infrastructure (KDI), which led to his desire to work with future research and further interpretation of requirements while assisting to improve cyber security for the HPC facilities and infrastructure.
