Brenna works with the storage team of the High-Performance Computing and Data Operations group. The archive portion of the storage team maintains the High Performance Storage System (HPSS) data archive and Spectrum Protect (TSM) for system backups.
Brenna has a background in HPC from the University of Iowa (UI), where she supported a variety of HPC resources for researchers at the university and small HPC systems in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences where she implemented Active Directory authentication, replacing the model of local UNIX user accounts in order to comply with university policy. More recently, Brenna supported the UI’s two centrally-provided HPC clusters as half of the ITS-Research Services Advanced Computing Team, where she provided a broad spectrum of support for a user base of over 700 faculty, post-doctorate, and student researchers. She designed, integrated, and deployed an expansion of compute nodes equipped with consumer-grade GPUs, significantly modified to critical HPC cluster stack components. The expansion was deployed successfully without a downtime, with no disruption to the existing cluster.
