Center Announcements

OLCF Alpine file system will be decommissioned in 5 days

The Alpine file system will be decommissioned in 5 days. Data remaining on Alpine will be permanently deleted on January 01, 2024. We strongly urge you to migrate any needed data now.

More details on the Alpine decommission timeline can be found at https://docs.olcf.ornl.gov/systems/2023_olcf_system_changes.html

User Assistance Center Schedule

The OLCF User Assistance Center will be closed on January 1st due to ORNL-observed holidays. The normal user assistance schedule will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd.

Orion is now available through Jupyter

Jupyter notebooks now have access to the Orion file system. Please note, the Alpine filesystem is no-longer available through Juypter.

Orion availability in Slate

Slate user workloads may now mount the Orion file system. Workloads running against Alpine should also be modified to run against Orion once your data transfers have completed. For details on the new annotation for Slate Orion support, please refer to the Slate documentation topic: https://docs.olcf.ornl.gov/services_and_applications/slate/access_olcf_resources/mount_fs.html.

Globus V5 Transition (Jan 08)

Globus will no longer support transfers through Globus Connect Server version 4 after January 08, 2024. All external transfers must transition to the Globus Connect Server version 5 prior to January 08. To aid in this transition, new version 5 endpoints are now available named “OLCF DTN (Globus 5)” and “OLCF HPSS (Globus 5)”. All external transfers must transition to the “OLCF DTN (Globus 5)” and “OLCF HPSS (Globus 5)” endpoints before January 08. Please begin using the V5 endpoints now and report any issues to help@olcf.ornl.gov.
