MEETINGS & WORKSHOPS
PEGASUS WORKFLOWS ON SUMMIT (JAN 24)
The Pegasus Research Team will be holding online office hours on Friday, January 24 at 11AM Pacific Time. During that meeting, the team will present an overview of the recent work done to orchestrate Pegasus Workflows on Summit, including demonstrations on how to set up a Pegasus POD via the OLCF Slate platform and an example workflow submitted to Summit.

JANUARY OLCF USER CONFERENCE CALL (JAN 29)
The January OLCF User Conference Call will be held at noon (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, January 29. The call will include a discussion of the new MyOLCF site led by OLCF’s Adam Carlyle. Details of the call, including information on how to join, can be found on the event page.
SCALING UP DEEP LEARNING APPLICATIONS ON SUMMIT (FEB 10)
The Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) will hold a webinar titled “Scaling Up Deep Learning Applications on Summit” on Monday, February 10, 2020. During the event, presenters from OLCF and our vendor partners will offer recommendations for deploying and scaling deep learning (DL) frameworks on the Summit supercomputer. The intended audience is OLCF users who are already familiar with DL applications but are new to high-performance computing (i.e, someone who already knows how to run DL codes on a workstation but is not sure how to scale up on a cluster), although attendance is open to all users. In-person attendance will be available for participants who already have current ORNL badges.
JSRUN TUTORIAL (FEB 18)
OLCF will hold a jsrun tutorial on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. This event is intended to teach new and existing OLCF users how to use the jsrun job launcher on Summit. We will begin with an introduction to jsrun – to bring new users up to speed – followed by more advanced usage (e.g., using Explicit Resource Files (ERF)). After the presentations, participants will be encouraged to work through example problems during a hands-on session.
Both in-person and remote participation will be supported during the tutorial, but only in-person participants will be given temporary training accounts on Summit (for those who do not already have access). The connection details will be sent out to remote participants the day before the event.
PERFORMANCE, PORTABILITY, AND PRODUCTIVITY IN HPC FORUM (APR 7-9)
The 2020 Performance, Portability, and Productivity in HPC (P3HPC) Forum is now accepting submissions for technical presentations, breakout sessions, and posters until January 24, 2020. The meeting registration site is also open. The Forum will be held April 7-9, 2020, at the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza hotel. This event provides an opportunity to present on ideas and progress toward the goal of performance portability across current and future high-performance computing platforms.
UPCOMING SCHEDULED OUTAGES
Summit, Rhea, HPSS, the Data Transfer Nodes, and the Alpine Filesystem will be unavailable beginning at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28. HPSS will return to service at noon, Summit and Alpine at 4:00 PM and the remaining systems at 8:00 PM.
