CENTER ANNOUNCEMENTS

USER ASSISTANCE CENTER SCHEDULE (SEP 3)
The OLCF User Assistance Center will be closed on Monday, September 3 due to an ORNL-observed holiday. The normal user assistance schedule (weekdays 9 AM – 5 PM Eastern Time) will resume on Tuesday, September 4. NOTE: The ORNL Computer Operations staff will still be available for limited troubleshooting 24 hours a day.

MEETINGS & WORKSHOPS

OLCF USER CONFERENCE CALL (AUG 29)
The August OLCF User Conference Call will be held at noon (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, August 29. The call will include a demonstration of parallel server capabilities of pbdR from a laptop RStudio session. ORNL’s George Ostrouchov will show how to run a distributed pbdR server on OLCF’s data analysis cluster Rhea, get data from the Lustre file system, and do this from the comfort of RStudio. ARM DEBUGGING AND PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS WORKSHOP – PRESENTED BY ARM (SEP 14)
On September 14, 2018, the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) will host a workshop on debugging and performance analysis using the Arm Forge suite of tools. Arm representatives (Nick Forrington and John Linford) will give an introduction to both the Arm DDT and Arm MAP tools and show how they can be used together during application development. After the introduction, participants will be guided through a series of hands-on exercises to gain experience with the topics covered. The topics will include memory leaks, non-interactive debugging, debugging GPU applications, profiling MPI imbalance, and profiling GPU applications.
