Center Announcements
Andes Available December 8
As earlier announced, we will soon replace our data analysis cluster Rhea with a new system named Andes. Andes will contain 704 compute nodes, each with two 16-core AMD EPYC processors and 256 GB of memory. Additionally, the GPU/High-Memory nodes currently in Rhea’s ‘rhea-gpu’ partition will be moved over to Andes.
All Rhea projects will be given access to Andes on December 8. Andes mounts the same user filesystems as Rhea, so no data movement is necessary. Andes can be accessed via ssh to andes.olcf.ornl.gov. A user guide is available at https://docs.olcf.ornl.gov/systems/andes_user_guide.html. We encourage you to begin using Andes immediately. If you have any questions, please contact the User Assistance Center at help@olcf.ornl.gov.
Meetings & Workshops
OLCF User Conference Call (Dec 9)
The next OLCF User Conference Call will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 9 and will feature an overview of OpenCE led by OLCF’s Junqi Yin. For more information, including connection details, see https://www.olcf.ornl.gov/calendar/userconcall-dec2020/.
OpenMP Off Load Training December 8 and 10
NVIDIA will present a 2-part training series for NERSC and OLCF users about using OpenMP target offload with NVIDIA’s HPC SDK compilers. The training will introduce OpenMP target offload, the NVIDIA compilers, and best practices for achieving high performance with OpenMP target offload on NVIDIA GPUs. Access to Cori GPU nodes will be provided.
The event page for the workshop contains the schedule and a registration link. The registration form is also available via this link. There is no registration fee.
Deadline Extended: SuperCheck ’21
The deadline to submit abstracts for the previously-announced First International Symposium on Checkpointing in Supercomputing (SuperCheck ’21) has been extended to December 14, 2021. For more information, see the event page.
Upcoming Scheduled Outages
There are no outages scheduled through Friday, December 11.
